Coinciding with Australian Public Sector Innovation Month in July the opening session session in our 2015 Innovation series entitled ‘The Innovation Imperative’ is designed to brief senior executives and their representatives on the strategic imperatives behind a formalised innovation process.
This session covered the motivation behind and, high level benefits, challenges, and success factors in the implementation of an innovation program.
About the series
Inspired by comments at the 2014 IPAA International Conference that the public sector needed to ‘build the room’ for innovation our three part series will provide practical advice to delegates around implementing or enhancing the innovation agenda within their organisation. Our objective is to increase the number of people participating in the innovation movement within and between public sector organisations in Western Australia.

Erica Haddon
Executive General Manager of People, Change and Innovation, RAC WA
Erica is currently employed at Royal Automobile Club of Western Australia (RAC) as Executive General Manager People, Change and Innovation; responsible for the development of the Group People Strategy for the RAC and for facilitating the pursuit of a portfolio of innovation opportunities. This includes creating the frameworks to help build innovation and change management capability, ensuring that it is intertwined with the cultural shift required for success.
Erica’s has a Bachelor of Business with a major in Economics and Finance, post graduate diploma in professional accounting and is a Certified Practicing Accountant. In addition to this Erica has completed the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program in 2012 and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
RAC WA is a proud Western Australian organisation which represents the interests of more than 800,000 Western Australians and is a leading advocate on the mobility issues and challenges facing our State. RAC’s difference is that it is a mutual organisation which reinvests its profits for the benefit of members and the WA community. Jodi Cant
General Manager, Business Development, Landgate
Jodi Cant is the General Manager of Business Development at Landgate, WA’s land information authority. Landgate takes a lead role in the public sector, linking people and data through the Shared Location Information Platform (SLIP).
Landgate launched its celebrated innovation program in 2008 and strives to embed creative thinking in all areas of the business.
Landgate also offers guidance and encouragement to others who want to make a difference by harnessing the imagination of their people.

In her spare time Jodi is a horse riding, dog walking, playwright which can be difficult to do all at once. Like most things it’s about balance.
Kerryl Bradshaw
Western Australian Branch Manager, Advisian
Kerryl joined Advisian in November 2014 as the Branch Manager of the Western Australian branch. She was most recently a Senior Executive within global mining company Rio Tinto and the mining industry for 15 years, with a previous career in Investment Banking and corporate services.
Her experience spans strategy, mergers and acquisitions, due diligence, operating mines, operational efficiency, project development & delivery, technology and innovation and business review.
