WS Lonnie Awards Honour WA Public Sector

Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasurer Honourable Michael Mischin MLC and Shadow Treasurer Honourable Ben Wyatt MLA were amongst the who’s who of the state public sector today at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, celebrating the Western Australia Institute of Public Administration (IPAA WA) 27th Annual W.S. Lonnie Awards.

Institute President and Awards host, Ms Sue McCarrey said the awards were about acknowledging excellence and accountability in annual reporting.

“Since its inception in 1984, the Awards have been established as a prominent event for the state public sector. Receiving a W.S. Lonnie Award demonstrates an agencies commitment to transparency, authenticity and integrity when it comes to producing its annual report”.

“Judging is very thorough as every eligible agency’s annual report is scrutinised and judged on very stringent selection criteria. An organisation cannot nominate for the award,” Ms McCarrey said.

The primary vehicle for accountability in the Public Sector has been and always will be the way public sector agencies report their performance.  The Awards were established in honour of Mr. William Scott Lonnie, recognised for his long and distinguished career in the State public service, culminating in his final post as Under Secretary, Premier’s Department during the premiership of Sir Charles Court.

Those awarded the top accolades for Annual Reporting were:

The W.S. Lonnie Memorial Trophy

Economic Regulation Authority

Margaret McAleer Special Commendation

Western Australian Electoral Commission

The Allan Skinner Trophy
