WA Public Sector Innovation Forum 2012

Flexibility for the Future – A More Agile Public Sector

In creating a public sector for the future, we will need to be capable of facing new challenges and difficult issues.

The 3rd Annual WA Public Sector Innovation Forum will explore the practical “hands-on” use of Innovation Tools and Innovation Methodologies using a sequence of approaches that can be applied to a real public sector “wicked problem” – the challenges of delivery within an environment of cost efficiencies.

Topics Include

How to:

  • Identify and manage the barriers to innovation;
  • Create a more agile, flexible and adaptable public sector;
  • Address and manage client expectations; and
  • Efficiently apply resources to priorities in a rapidly evolving operating environment.

Who Should Attend?

This Forum is targeted at public sector staff who are currently working on ways to maximise innovative solutions for the use of resources and funding and who need to develop more flexible approaches to service delivery.

Why?

  • There is abundance of literature and organisations delivering tools and methodologies within the innovation sphere, in this forum we will explore and use a selection of these tools as a “taster”, to tackle a wicked problem.
  • This is a unique opportunity to work with cross functional public sector on “emerging” issues on complex and adaptive challenges.
  • Many private and public organisations are in the throes of tackling critical workplace issues and looking for opportunities for innovation and efficiencies.
  • Critical to the success of organisations and success of leadership are individuals who can access and utilise a range of tools and methodologies progressing ideas through the sequence and pipeline using creativity and innovation methodologies.
  • The focus is on a “real problem”, involving small groups collaborating to make sense of the problem and generate options using applied problem solving.
