Young Professional Scholarship

The Young Professional Scholarship is awarded annually to one Young Professional (YP) Member (Personal or Associate) and provides the opportunity to attend the Institute’s National Conference.

IPAA WA will be giving away 2 Young Professional Scholarships in 2014.

The Scholarship

The scholarship traditionally provides the winner with return economy flights from Perth and full conference registration fee and is valued at over $2,000. This year, the conference for 2014 will be held in Perth, WA on 29th & 30th October at the Perth Convention & Exhibition Centre.

The IPAA National Conference

The Institute of Public Administration Australia's 2014 National Conference will explore the theme 'The Shape of Things To Come'. It will examine the sub-themes of LOOKING WITHIN, REACHING OUT & BEYOND OUR SHORES.

How to Apply

Application is on a self-nomination basis and requires:

  • submission of a current resume including current position and contact details; and
  • submission of a paper (max 400 words) outlining why you would like to attend the 2014 International Conference, and detailing how it will aid your professional development and career in the public service.

Winner Requirements

Each winner will be required to complete a brief report on their experience at the Conference. This will be published on the Institute’s website and you may also be required to make a short presentation at a future Young Professional’s event or the Institute's AGM.


Applications will be reviewed** by a panel and the winner will be notified by email and announced on the Institute’s website on 25 August 2014.

Eligibility & Closing Date

To be eligible to apply you must be aged 35 years and under, and be a current Young Professional - Associate or Personal Member.**

Emailed applications for the competition must be received by the Institute no later than 5:00pm on Monday, 18 August 2014. Email your application to with 'YP Scholarship' in the subject field.

*Prize is not redeemable for cash, is not transferable or exchangeable.
** The panel’s decision is final. No correspondence will be entered into regarding the panel’s decisions. The panel reserves the right not to award the scholarship. The competition is open to all current financial (paid) YP Members. This excludes Complimentary Young Professional Memberships provided as part of benefit to Corporate Members.
