Susan was an excellent facilitator. very experienced and allowed a high level of interaction and engagement. This workshop was very informative and built on principles of the ‘Intro to Policy Work’ course.

This one-day course is part of IPAA’s popular suite of practical policy courses for the public sector.  The course covers policy making in the public sector context and identifies the range of policy documents public sector employees may be required to prepare.

It also includes practical exercises in designing and preparing policy documents.  The course will be most helpful if you have some experience in policy development in the public or not for profit sector.  The course will assist you to develop skills required to produce effective, high quality policy documents.

Course Content
  • Identify when a policy can be useful and what policy documents should be developed
  • Identify the range of policy documents used in government
  • Learn the key features of the policy cycle and how to use this methodology
  • Work through the process to develop a policy statement or proposal
  • Learn the key features of effective policy documents
  • Critique key features of effective policy documents

  • identify the key features of a good policy document
  • identify key processes followed to develop a policy draft
  • understand the quality control issues
