Applications for the 2024 scholarship (to attend the 2025 YP Conference) are open.
The Young Professional Regional Scholarship is awarded annually to one regionally located Public Sector Young Professional (YP) and provides the opportunity to be more involved in your professional community. This includes attending the IPAA WA Public Sector Young Professionals’ Conference and a one-year IPAA WA Young Professional membership.
The scholarship provides the recipient with a one-year IPAA WA Young Professional Membership, travel assistance to and from Perth, accommodation and full conference registration fee*.

The IPAA WA Public Sector YP Conference provides young professionals, and those early in their career, with a forum to explore and discuss the critical issues affecting their career prospects with leaders and peers.
The conference features an exciting program that is developed for young professionals by young professionals, and will keep you inspired the whole day through thought provoking and interactive sessions.
Application is on a self-nomination basis and requires:
- submission of a current resume including current position and contact details; and
- submission of a paper (max 600 words) outlining:
- How the theme of the conference relates to your current work;
- Which topics/themes you are most interested in for your career development and why; and
- How you will share the information you have learnt with other young professionals.
Applications will be reviewed** by a panel and the recipient will be notified by email and announced on the Institute’s website.
Eligibility: To be eligible to apply you must be aged 35 years and under, located regionally*** in WA and working in the public service (Local, State, or Federal Government, or the NFP sector).
Closing Date: Applications for the 2024 scholarship close on 9 December 2024.
Requirements: The recipient of the Regional YP Scholarship will be required to complete a 1 page report on their experience at the Conference. This will be published on the Institute’s website and the YP Committee’s social networks.
*Prize is not redeemable for cash, transferable or exchangeable. Cost of travel is determined by IPAA WA. Accommodation may be included if needed as per the Public Service Award 1992 and through discussions with IPAA WA.
** The panel’s decision is final. No correspondence will be entered into regarding the panel’s decisions. The panel reserves the right not to award the scholarship. The competition is open to all Young Professionals currently working in the WA public sector (including government and not-for-profit organisations).
*** Regional WA is defined as outside the Perth/Peel Regional Development Commission boundaries.
