Psychosocial Incident Investigation Masterclass: Investigating Psychosocial Incidents and Reviewing Learning Without Blame

Psychosocial Incident Investigation Masterclass: Investigating Psychosocial Incidents and Reviewing Learning Without Blame

Conduct psychosocial incident reviews that identify root causes, control gaps and opportunities for improvement.

Overview

This masterclass builds capability to investigate psychosocial incidents in a way that protects confidentiality, procedural fairness and psychological safety while identifying underlying work and system factors. It is designed for leaders, HR, HSEQ, workplace investigators and managers involved in responding to psychosocial incidents, complaints, concerns or harm events.

The course is grounded in current WHS expectations. Safe Work Australia guidance states that investigations into incidents involving psychosocial hazards should primarily aim to identify hazards and opportunities for new or improved control measures, rather than attributing blame, while ensuring appropriate privacy and confidentiality is maintained throughout the process. WorkSafe WA guidance also emphasises that psychosocial hazards can be complex and require effective consultation, communication and an integrated risk management approach.

Participants will learn how to move beyond blame-focused reviews and examine work design, workload, support, role clarity, culture, relationships, controls and escalation pathways so investigation outcomes lead to credible learning and stronger prevention.
