Keynote Speaker, Joann Wilkie, WA’s new Under Treasurer, and Chair of the Western Australian Treasury Corporation set the tone for the 2025 IPAA WA Women in Public Service Leadership conference, and what followed was a day filled with insights and dialogue between panellists, presenters and the audience.
For over ten years this conference has provided fresh inspiration and timely insights for thousands of dynamic and motivated women who, seeking senior leadership or not, are committed to driving the changes necessary for a gender balanced leadership future. In recent years it has brought together more than 600 participants from local, state and federal governments, community organisations, and the not-for-profit sector.
This year, the conference theme was ‘Supporting diversity in times of change’. Inclusive leadership is essential to building a resilient public service that is ready for the future. However, challenges to diversity appear to be strengthening in some parts of the world.
The 2025 IPAA WA Women in Public Service Leadership Conference put diversity and equity at the centre of the discussion by looking at how we can strengthen representation and opportunity across the public service.
This conference provided a space to listen, learn, connect and grow whether you are an emerging leader, an experienced executive or a mentor. It was for:
- Existing leaders aspiring to executive roles
- Those who want to increase their understanding and capacity for change
- New professionals discovering what it takes to be leaders
- Those who want to establish their own rewarding careers
- Executives mentoring a group from their team or an organisation
The conference explored the opportunities for gender balance among the leaders of our public service and explored the challenges facing many professionals today, such as the impact of AI. Participants left with practical insights, information that is relevant to topical issues, and a greater knowledge to pursue their ambitions in the year ahead.
