The Neurodiversity Advantage: Supporting, Harnessing, and Leading Neurodivergent Talent is a practical, hands-on workshop that encourages participants to embrace, support, and value neurodiverse people in the workplace. The course advocates inclusive and supportive practices that appreciate different ways of thinking, learning, and working in accordance with best practices.
This course gives participants the skills required to confidently lead and make decisions that foster workplace cultures where neurodivergent people thrive. Through research, practical examples, and lived experience, participants will learn the value of neurodiversity, address conscious and unconscious biases, and actively promote and integrate neuro-affirming principles into their workplace cultures, practices, and decision-making processes.
The Neurodiversity Advantage: Supporting, Harnessing, and Leading Neurodivergent Talent will empower participants to be more confident in applying contemporary neurodiversity principles and practices at work and supporting and advocating for themselves or others.
The course content and learning outcomes align with legal and departmental frameworks supporting neurodivergent employees, including the EEO Act of 1984, WHS legislation supporting psychosocial safety, and the Department of Health’s Diversity and Inclusion Framework to ensure that all people feel safe, supported, and valued.
Course Content
Would you like to work better with neurodiverse people? The Neurodiversity Advantage: Supporting, Harnessing, and Leading Neurodivergent Talent is a hands-on workshop that uses current research and participants’ lived experiences to empower them to create safe, supportive, and affirming workspaces that value neurodivergent people. The workshop explores key concepts of neurodiversity, explains common neurodivergent lived conditions, and celebrates the strengths neurodivergent people bring to their organisations.
The Neurodiversity Advantage: Supporting, Harnessing, and Leading Neurodivergent Talent engages with contemporary concepts of neurodiversity and neurodivergence and discusses examples of lived conditions, including ADHD, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), dyslexia, and Tourette’s syndrome. By taking an affirmative approach, negative assumptions about neurodivergence will be challenged.
By completing this course, participants will learn how to identify common barriers neurodiverse people face in the workplace and develop practical and affirming strategies to create more inclusive and accommodating environments. They will gain strategies for creating inclusive work environments that support neurodiversity and gain confidence in recognising and accommodating different needs within their organisation.
Participants will understand the value neurodivergent employees bring to their organisation, particularly in terms of innovation, creativity, problem-solving, and productivity. They will gain confidence in leading supportive, flexible, and inclusive work environments and learn to advocate for themselves and others.
