Strategies for Public Servants to Maximise Ethical Conduct
Overview
This workshop is designed to raise awareness and understanding of why professionalism in the public sector an important and contemporary topic of conversation and what it means to be professional in the public sector. The program will help participants develop values based strategies for professional and ethical conduct that can be applied in the workplace.
The workshop is relevant to public servants at all levels however the most benefit will be gained by those new to the public sector or seeking a refresher and a ‘new take’ on ethical conduct.

- Core elements of professionalism and ethical behaviour in the public sector
- Embedding behaviours guided by integrity and accountability
- WA Public Sector Accountability Framework
- Ethical dilemmas
- Strategies for assessing and monitoring professionalism
- Unconscious bias
- Acting with Integrity
- Understanding the role of bystanders in changing unprofessional behaviours
Course Outcomes
By the end of this course attendees should have:
- an understanding of some of the attributes of professional and ethical behaviours in the public service
- an awareness of the public sector accountability framework
- some strategies to support professionalism in the workplace
- some practical tools to support their own and others professional and ethical behaviours.
